If you are interested in improving the quality of life on our planet, you can specialize in Native Plant Conservation. In this area of the Plant Science major, you apply the latest technologies to conserve and restore plant diversity in affected ecosystems.

Work in the lab or out in the field removing invasive species. Help to develop a seed bank for native plants. Study the optimum germination requirements of Florida native wildflowers. Propagate native plant species in UF labs. Use the most advanced applications of in-vitro culture and genetic analysis for selection, production and reintroduction of aquatic and wetland plants, coastal dune grasses, orchids and more.
